Another weekend is around the corner! See what you can do to get your mind out of work and enjoy Porto!
One of the biggest things happening this weekend is the “Wave Series”. The beaches of Porto and Matosinhos will be the stage of numerous events, all about surf! The surf, longboard and stand up paddle competitions are the main attractions, of course, but you can always go to check out the street market, get some Combi coffee, hear some music, attended conferences or see a photograph exhibition.
The traditional Tram parade is back! On the 6th of May between 3pm and 6pm you can check 10 of the old Porto trams, important museum pieces, strolling between the Infante D. Henrique Street and the Gardens of Passeio Alegre. The journey will be accompanied by Brazilian rhythms and music! You can buy yourself a ticket inside the trams at 8 euros, from 2.20pm.
You will be also able to see a different temporary exhibition on the Tram Museum with a new restored tram. Free entrance and lots of fun!
Jazz fans out there!! This weekend there will be Jazz downtown! The “Residencial Porta-Jazz 9.0 com Demian Cabaud” concert will take place at Aliados Ave. nº 16, 4th floor at the Porta-Jazz headquarters. On the 6th of May there will be two concerts, one at 7pm and other at 11pm with Demian Cabaud, Argentinian musician living in Portugal, and some friends. Tickets cost 5 euros.
Last but not least, on this Saturday night, one of the biggest parties in Porto starts. The student’s annual “Queima das FItas” takes place during the whole week, and there are a few events that you can assist! One is the Monumental Serenta, the monumental serenade, which starts at 00h01 sharp. If you like Fado and want to see a one of a kind event you will be at the Aliados Ave, to see this!!
