Unique historical stores to visit in Porto!

December is a great month to do some shopping! The Holiday season is on and everyone is looking for the perfect gift for theirs loved ones. And if you’re visiting Porto you should pay a visit to this unique historical stores. Even if you don’t want buy anything, they are worth the visit just for their beauty and history!

Besides the famous Café Majestic and Lello Bookstore, here are our favorite unique stores to visit in Porto:

A Pérola do Bolhão is a classic stop for those who love places full of history – and delicious food! Founded in 1917 by António Reis, the store is still runned by the same family. With an amazing Art Nouveau façade, they sell a great selection of dry and cristalyzed fruits and nuts, codfish, conserves, tea and freshly grounded coffee!

Another great delicatessen store that’s worth a visit is Casa Januário, founded in 1926 and still a family business. Located at Rua do Bonjardim 348, they sell quality products like wine, coffee, tea, jams, olive oil, spices and chocolats. But enough food! If you’re looking for gifts for the little ones go straight to Bazar Paris, a store specialized in traditional toys, theme parties decoration and other fun products. Founded in 1903, they’re are located at Rua Sá da Bandeira 190.

If you’re into fashion, then you should visit Camisaria Porto, located at Rua Sá da Bandeira 111. Since 1916 they sell button shirts, ties, scarves and socks, from traditional to more modern designs. All 100% made in Portugal! Another great historical store to visit is Armazém dos Linhos, at Rua de Passos Manuel 15. Started in 1905 as a tailor store, since the 1950’s they sell printed fabrics with traditional Portuguese patterns. Nowadays, you can find a great mix of traditional and modern textile products!

Other stores you should visit are Livraria Académica, a centenial bookshop specialized in rare books, and Machado Joalheiro, dedicated to jewels and watches of the highest quality, with an amazing façade!
