Probably you’ve already heard about our Lello bookstore, our famous bookshop in Porto considered one of the most beautiful in the world. Designed by engineer Francisco Xavier Esteves and opened in 1906, it is known for the Neo-gothic facade and interior. Its impressive carmine staircase, the detailing of the wooden balusters and the incredible stained-glass skylight are amazing! The legend says that Lello inspired J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter book series!
Nowadays, if you are visiting Porto and strolling around the Baixa area, you will find a different facade for Lello Bookstore…
More than a century after its inauguration, the interior stained glass is being cleaned for the first time. The facade is being completely renovated and restored. While this work is takes place, you can find a spectacular colorful panel: the most recent mural of Urban Art in the city made by Portuguese artist Mr.Dheo, in collaboration with Paris One.
